Recommended resources for the beginning transcriptionist. The purpose of this list is to assist new medical transcriptionists build their basic reference libraries without spending money unnecessarily. The same ordering procedure applies to this list of recommended resources as applied to the required resource list.

This list is in two sections: Basic References and Additional References. The Basic References section is a list of reference books and materials (including software) all transcriptionists should have in their library, no matter what specialty they are transcribing. The Additional References section is a list of materials that transcriptionists should have if they are going to be transcribing specialty work. We have selected the best references available for you to choose from.
